Big Girl Cosmetics Celebrates 5 Years of Business

CHICAGO - (February 9, 2010) - Five years ago Big Girl Cosmetics' Creative Director Kiley Russell, set in the audience of a taping of legendary television production mogul Oprah Winfrey. Russell, a makeup artist and assistant principal at the time, attended the momentous taping of Oprah the year she gifted her audience a Pontiac G6. The absorbent gift took the nation by storm, but Russell had a larger plan for her blessed gift. Not needing a car at the time, Russell sold the car and used the profit to start the beauty empire, Big Girl Cosmetics.

What are you thankful for?
Often times we list an array of things, a home, great family, health, peace on earth etc. This year let’s remember all of the hurdles we have climbed this year, the challenges with the economy, housing, job market- we are making it through. Try to be thankful for the mistakes you made and take them as a lesson that needed to be learned. Eat too much, laugh too hard, hug and kiss the ones you love and even the ones you don’t!

As for Big Girl, I am off to live out my childhood dream as an award winning singer through family Karaoke. This year I will try to beat my Mom’s top score of 97!

How to Get Sun-kissed Glow

So you have the blush on, but that isn’t enough. This summer you want the sun-kissed look. Let the bronzed beauty in you come out.

Using a fluffy powder or blush brush and apply bronzer after you have applied your blush (if you have questions about blush check out our previous blog about applying blush in the right color and the right places). First swipe the brush onto your bronzer compact or powder and tap off the excess. Now, follow the contours of your cheekbones, the bottom, right below the apples of your cheeks. Remember bronzer is slightly darker and helps to make your cheekbones glamorous, so use it to your advantage and apply it where you feel the contrast is necessary. To make sure you have that bronzed all over look dab it LIGHTLY over your forehead and down the bridge of your nose and follow that with your chin.

FOR AN EASIER APPLICATION, apply bronzer to the same areas with the Big Girl liquid bronzer. Instead of using a brush use your ring and middle fingers. Using your fingers allows you to have more control over how much or how little you want to apply and is easier to blend.

Taraji P. Henson wins Big Girl of the Night Award

Taraji P. Henson was simply gorgeous walking down the Oscar Red Carpet Sunday evening!

The actress starred in the Best Picture nominee film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, appropriately enough, she chose a 19th century vintage Fred Leighton necklace to accessorize her floor length strapless creme gown.

Taraji kept her look simple but elegant. With the use of a clear gloss, some blush and a very subtle smokey eye Taraji brings it home with a natural elegant look. We honor her success and beauty as the essence of a Big Girl- Do it Big Taraji!
